The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 not a flippant jest. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 and so am I: 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
Almighty God's Truth.
