The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The people's day of reckoning is drawing closer, yet they are heedlessly neglectful. 1 No mention comes to them anew from their Lord except that they listen to it while they are at play 2 their hearts are distracted and forgetful. The wrongdoers confer together secretly, saying, "Is not this man a mortal like you? Will you succumb to magic with your eyes open?" 3 He says: 'My Lord knows what is said in the heavens and the earth, and He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing.' 4 "Nay," they say, "(these are) medleys of dream! - Nay, He forged it! - Nay, He is (but) a poet! Let him then bring us a Sign like the ones that were sent to (Prophets) of old!" 5 Not a [single] city which We destroyed believed before them, so will they believe? 6 (O Muhammad), even before you We never sent any other than human beings as Messengers, and to them We sent revelation. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know. 7 nor did We fashion them as bodies that ate not food, neither were they immortal; 8 Then We made Our promise good to them and delivered whomsoever We pleased, and destroyed the transgressors. 9 We have certainly sent down to you a Book in which is your mention. Then will you not reason? 10
