Do not think God is unaware of the wrongdoers' actions. He only gives them respite till the Day on which all eyes will stare fixedly in horror. 42 They shall come out running in bewilderment, with their heads raised, their gaze not returning to them; and their hearts will not have any calm. 43 Warn men of the Day when the punishment will come upon them, and when the wrongdoers will say, "Our Lord, grant us respite for a short while. We will respond to Your call and will follow the messengers." [But God will answer], are you not those who swore that you would never suffer any decline? 44 And ye dwell in the dwellings of those who had wronged themselves and it had become manifest unto you in what wise We had dealt with them, and We had propounded for you similitudes. 45 They devised evil plans which were so sinful that even the mountains could not endure them. All these were known to God. 46 HENCE, do not think that God will fail to fulfil the promise which He gave to His apostles: verily, God is almighty, an avenger of evil! 47 On the Day when the earth will be changed to another earth and so will be the heavens, and they (all creatures) will appear before Allah, the One, the Irresistible. 48 And you will see the criminals that Day bound together in shackles, 49 their garments shall be black as if made out of pitch, and flames of the Fire shall cover their faces 50 So that Allah will recompense every soul for what it earned. Indeed, Allah is swift in account. 51 This [Qur'an] is notification for the people that they may be warned thereby and that they may know that He is but one God and that those of understanding will be reminded. 52
