۞ (God will command the angels), "Gather together the unjust, their spouses, and what they had worshipped 22 Beside Allah, and lead them on to the path of the Flaming Fire. 23 And stop them; verily they are to be questioned: 24 What is the matter with you that you do not help each other? 25 But they, that Day, are in surrender. 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They said, “It is you who used to come to us from our right, in order to sway.” 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion! 30 and so we became deserving of the Word of our Lord that we shall be made to suffer chastisement. 31 And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators." 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence, 35 and said: “Shall we forsake our deities for the sake of a distracted poet?” 36 'No indeed; but he brought the truth, and confirmed the Envoys. 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 [in the hereafter,] theirs shall be a sustenance which they will recognize 41 fruits. And they are receivers of generosity 42 In Gardens of Felicity, 43 On couches facing one another; 44 There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring, 45 clear, delightful to those who drink it: 46 Neither dulling the senses nor intoxicating, 47 And with them will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes. 48 As though they were eggs hidden. 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 Shall we be recompensed for our deeds after we die and become bones and dust? 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 He therefore looked down and saw him amidst the blazing fire. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]. 57 He will ask his companion, "Did you not say that there would only be one death 58 Save our first death, and are we not to be tormented? 59 Most surely this is the mighty achievement. 60 For this the toilers should strive." 61 So is this welcome better, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 Indeed it is a tree that sprouts from the base of hell. 64 Its spathes are like the prickly pear. 65 And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies. 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 then surely they shall return to Hell. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 and they are running in their footsteps. 70 Most of the ancient people had also gone astray. 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 Then see how was the end of those warned, 73 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 74
