The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few from the latter. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining face to face. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and banana trees, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
