The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 arise, and warn! 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 And your clothing purify 4 and defilement flee! 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 So that is a tough day. 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 And children to be by his side! 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he looked round; 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 And what could make thee conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 It glows and burns the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
