The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great news - 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
