The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
