Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In a high Garden. 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 and couches raised high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
