The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In gardens of delight; 12 a host of the ancients 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And clustered plantains, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
