The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
