Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 labouring, weary, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 Goblets set, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
