Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And cups put in place 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And linen spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
