The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Praise belongs to God who has sent down upon His servant the Book and has not assigned unto it any crookedness; 1 right, to warn of great violence from Him, and to give good tidings unto the believers, who do righteous deeds, that theirs shall be a goodly wage 2 wherein they shall remain forever, 3 And to warn those who say: Allah hath chosen a son, 4 They have no knowledge of this, as their fathers did not have. How terrible are the words they utter! They speak nothing but lies. 5 But wouldst thou, perhaps, torment thyself to death with grief over them if they are not willing to believe in this message? 6 We have appointed all that is on the earth an adornment for it, in order that We try which of them is finest in works. 7 In the ultimate, We shall reduce all that is on the earth to a barren plain. 8 Deemest thou that the people of the cave and the inscription were of Our signs a wonder? 9 (Remember) when the young men fled for refuge (from their disbelieving folk) to the Cave, they said: "Our Lord! Bestow on us mercy from Yourself, and facilitate for us our affair in the right way!" 10 For many years We sealed up their hearing in the Cave, 11 Thereafter We raised them up that We might know which of the two parties was best at reckoning the time that they had tarried. 12
