The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 Abasing exalting. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and shade extended, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and abundant fruits, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
