And whosoever turns away (blinds himself) from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent (Allah) (i.e. this Quran and worship of Allah), We appoint for him Shaitan (Satan - devil) to be a Qarin (an intimate companion) to him. 36 and they bar them from the Way, though they themselves think that they are guided. 37 Till, when he cometh unto Us, he saith (unto his comrade): Ah, would that between me and thee there were the distance of the two horizons - an evil comrade! 38 It shall not profit you today, since you did evil, that you are partners in the chastisement. 39 What! can you then make the deaf to hear or guide the blind and him who is in clear error? 40 We shall inflict retribution on them, whether We take you away from the world (before We do that), 41 or show them to you suffering the torment with which We had threatened them. We are certainly dominant over them all. 42 So hold you (O Muhammad SAW) fast to that which is inspired in you. Verily, you are on a Straight Path. 43 And it is undoubtedly an honour for you and your people; and you will soon be questioned. 44 You can ask Our Messengers whom We sent before you if We had commanded them to worship other gods besides the Beneficent God?" 45
