The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what sin she was killed 9 And when the pages are made public 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 and the night that falls, 17 and brightening morning, 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
