People of Hijr rejected the Messengers. 80 We sent them Our Signs, but they persisted in turning away from them. 81 They carved out dwellings in the mountains, and lived in security -- 82 Then the shout took hold of them in the early morn. 83 and of no avail to them was all [the power] that they had acquired. 84 We have created the heavens and the earth and all that is between the two in accordance with the requirements of truth and wisdom. The Hour is surely coming. So overlook [their faults] with gracious forgiveness. 85 Your Lord is indeed the Creator of all, the All-Knowing. 86 And We have bestowed upon thee the Seven Oft-repeated (verses) and the Grand Qur'an. 87 So covet not things We have bestowed on a portion of them to enjoy, and do not grieve for them, and protect those who believe; 88 And say: 'I am the plain warner' 89 As We have sent down on the dividers, (Quraish pagans or Jews and Christians). 90 (So also on such) as have made Qur'an into shreds (as they please). 91 So, by your Lord, We would most certainly question them all, 92 About all what they used to do. 93 Hence, proclaim openly all that thou hast been bidden [to say,] and leave alone all those who ascribe divinity to aught beside God: 94 Indeed We suffice you against these mockers. 95 those who set up another deity alongside Allah. They shall soon come to know. 96 We are well aware that you are disheartened by what they say. 97 Exalt with the praise of your Lord and be one of those who prostrate. 98 Worship your Lord until you achieve the ultimate certainty. 99
