'Ad (people) belied the Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 124 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 125 Have fear of God and obey me. 126 I ask no recompense of you; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 127 "Do you build useless monuments on every mountain 128 Erect palaces (thinking) that you will live for ever, 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants! 130 “Therefore fear Allah, and obey me.” 131 and fear Him who has succoured you with what you know, 132 Who has provided you with flocks and children 133 gardens, and springs. 134 "Truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Great Day." 135 They replied: 'It is the same to us whether you admonish or whether you are not one of the admonishers. 136 "This is no other than a customary device of the ancients, 137 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" 138 Eventually they gave the lie to him and We destroyed them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 139 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and merciful. 140
