The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
