Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The true event! 1 What is the Sure Reality? 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) 11 In order to make it a warning for you, and that the ear retentive may preserve it. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account.” 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 in an exalted garden 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 And not known my account! 26 Would it had been the end! 27 My riches have availed me not; 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 Lay hold of him and chain him; 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 then fasten him with a chain, seventy cubits long. 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 and has no food except the filth from the washing of wounds, 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
