The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
