He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and fears (Allah), 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olives and palms 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruit and grass - 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 with darkness overspread: 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
