The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the sun and his brightness, 1 and by the moon as it follows it; 2 and by the day when it displays him 3 and by the night when it draws a veil over it, 4 And the heaven and Him Who built it, 5 and the earth and all its expanse! 6 And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it 7 And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness, 8 Prosperous is he who purifies it, 9 and failed has he who seduces it. 10 Thamood cried lies in their insolence 11 Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety). 12 And the messenger of Allah [Salih] said to them, "[Do not harm] the she-camel of Allah or [prevent her from] her drink." 13 But they gave him the lie, and cruelly slaughtered her - whereupon their Sustainer visited them with utter destruction for this their sin, destroying them all alike: 14 He does not fear the result (of their destruction). 15
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
