The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
