And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
