Indeed We created man from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud. 26 while We had brought the jinn into being before out of blazing fire. 27 And (remember) when thy Lord said unto the angels: Lo! I am creating a mortal out of potter's clay of black mud altered, 28 When it is properly shaped and I have blown My Spirit into it, you should then bow down in prostration". 29 So the angels fell prostrate, all of them together 30 save Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. 31 "How is it, O Iblis," said (the Lord), "you did not join those who bowed in homage?" 32 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud." 33 (Allah) said: 'Begone, you are accursed! 34 Upon thee shall rest the curse, till the Day of Doom.' 35 Said he, 'My Lord, respite me till the day they shall be raised.' 36 He said: So surely you are of the respited ones 37 Till the Day of appointed time. 38 He said: My Lord! Because Thou hast sent me astray, I verily shall adorn the path of error for them in the earth, and shall mislead them every one, 39 Except the chosen ones among Your creatures." 40 He said: This is a right course incumbent upon Me: 41 Indeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators. 42 "And surely, Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 Unto it are seven portals; unto each portal is a portion of them assigned. 44
