S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
SAD. I CALL to witness the admonishing Qur'an. 1 But the Unbelievers (are steeped) in self-glory and Separatism. 2 How many ancient generations did We destroy? (On facing Our torment) they cried out for help, but it was too late for them to escape. 3 Now they marvel that a warner has come to them from among them; and the unbelievers say, 'This is a lying sorcerer. 4 Has he turned so many gods into one deity? This is indeed a strange thing!" 5 Their leaders departed, saying, "Walk away! Hold fast to your deities. This is clearly a conspiracy. 6 We have not heard this in the religious community close to our time. This is nothing but a fabrication. 7 Has the message been revealed to him out of [all of] us?" Rather, they are in doubt about My message. Rather, they have not yet tasted My punishment. 8 Or is it that they have the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Mighty, the great Giver? 9 Have they control over heavens and earth and whatever [lies] between them? Then let them climb up to heaven by ropes: 10 (As they denied Allah's Message) they will be a defeated host like the confederates of the old times (who were defeated). 11 The people of Nuh and Ad, and Firon, the lord of spikes, rejected (apostles) before them. 12 And Thamud, and the people of Lout (Lot), and the dwellers of the wood; such were the confederates. 13 Of all these there was not one who did not deny the messengers. So My retribution was justified. 14
