Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha-Mim 1 By the Book that makes things clear,- 2 Verily We! We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that haply ye may reflect. 3 And Lo! in the Source of Decrees, which We possess, it is indeed sublime, decisive. 4 [O YOU who deny the truth!] Should We, perchance, withdraw this reminder from you altogether, seeing that you are people bent on wasting your own selves? 5 How many a Prophet did We send to the earlier peoples! 6 no Prophet came to them except that they mocked him, 7 We destroyed the strongest among them in power. The stories of the ancient people have already been mentioned. 8 And if thou askest them: who hath created the heavens and the earth? they will surely say: created them the Mighty, the Knower. 9 Who hath made for you the earth a bed, and hath made for you paths therein that haply ye may be directed. 10 It is He who sends water down from the sky in due measure, We revive dead land with it and likewise you will be resurrected from the grave, 11 He Who created all the pairs, and appointed for you ships and cattle whereupon ye ride. 12 In order that ye may sit firm and square on their backs, and when so seated, ye may celebrate the (kind) favour of your Lord, and say, "Glory to Him Who has subjected these to our (use), for we could never have accomplished this (by ourselves), 13 “And indeed we have to return to our Lord.” 14 Yet they have made some of His servants a part of Him. Indeed man is most evidently thankless. 15
