The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and a few from later times. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and serried acacias, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
