Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Inevitable Reality - 1 And what is that indubitable event? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He punished them with a strong punishment. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 On that Day will come what is to come. 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 So he shall be in a pleasing life 21 In an elevated garden, 22 The fruits of which are near at hand: 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; 31 And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 and no food except pus 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
