Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Dawn, 1 and the ten nights, 2 And [by] the even [number] and the odd 3 And by oath of the night when it recedes 4 Truly in that there is an oath for those who possess understanding. 5 Bethinkest thou not in what wise thy Lord did with the 'A'ad: 6 With many-columned Iram, 7 the like of which has never been created in the land, 8 and with [the tribe of] Thamud, who hollowed out rocks in the valley? 9 And with Fir'awn, owner of the stakes 10 Who terrorised the region, 11 And heaped therein mischief (on mischief). 12 So your Lord poured a scourge of punishment over them. 13 for, verily, thy Sustainer is ever on the watch! 14 And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me." 15 But when He tests him by restricting his provision, he says: 'My Lord has humiliated me' 16 No indeed, but you show no kindness to the orphan, 17 Nor do ye encourage one another to feed the poor!- 18 And you readily devour the inheritance with greed. 19 and you love wealth with an ardent love 20 Nay, but when the earth is ground to atoms, grinding, grinding, 21 And thy Lord cometh, and His angels, rank upon rank, 22 And on that Day hell will be brought [within sight]; on that Day man will remember [all that he did and failed to do]: but what will that remembrance avail him? 23 He will say: “Would that I had sent ahead what would be of avail for this life of mine!” 24 So on that day, no one punishes like He does! 25 and none can bind with bonds like His. 26 Serene soul, 27 Return unto thy Lord, content in His good pleasure! 28 So enter among My servants, 29 "Yea, enter thou My Heaven! 30

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
