The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the mount. 1 And by oath of a passage, written – 2 on unrolled parchment, 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. 9 And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether). 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 The pious will live in bountiful Paradise, 17 Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. 18 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did, 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 And some of them draw near to others, questioning. 25 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
