Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O thou folded in garments! 1 Arise [to pray] the night, except for a little - 2 For half the night, or reduce some from it. 3 or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. 4 Indeed, We will cast upon you a heavy word. 5 Surely, getting up at night [for worship] is the most potent means of subduing the self and most suitable for the word [of prayer]. 6 Indeed during the day you have a long schedule of occupations. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with (exclusive) devotion. 8 (He Alone is) the Lord of the east and the west, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). So take Him Alone as Wakil (Disposer of your affairs). 9 And bear thou patiently what they say, and forsake them graciously. 10 And leave Me and the rejecters, the possessors of ease and plenty, and respite them a little. 11 Lo! with Us are heavy fetters and a raging fire, 12 And a food that chokes, and a painful torment. 13 On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. 14 We have sent a messenger who is a witness over you, just as We sent a messenger to Pharoah before you. 15 and Pharaoh rebelled against the apostle, whereupon We took him to task with a crushing grip. 16 Then how shall ye, if ye deny (Allah), guard yourselves against a Day that will make children hoary-headed?- 17 on which the heaven will split apart, and His promise is done. 18 Surely this is a Reminder; so let him who will take unto his Lord a way. 19
