The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 By the angels hastening, 4 And those who govern the event, 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 That “Go to Firaun – he has rebelled.” 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
