The Amramites (Al-Imraan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Alif Lam Mim 1 God exists. He is the only Lord, the Everlasting and the Guardian of life. 2 He has sent down the Book to you with truth, which fulfils [the predictions] in the Scriptures that preceded it: He sent down the Torah and the Gospel 3 Aforetime, for a guidance unto the people, and sent down the criterion. Verily those who disbelieve in the signs of Allah unto them shall be torment severe. And Allah is Mighty, Lord of Retribution. 4 Verily, nothing on earth or in the heavens is hidden from God. 5 It is He who shapes you in your mothers' wombs as He wills. There is no god except Him, the Almighty, the Wise. 6 It is He who sent down upon thee the Book, wherein are verses clear that are the Essence of the Book, and others ambiguous. As for those in whose hearts is swerving, they follow the ambiguous part, desiring dissension, and desiring its interpretation; and none knows its interpretation, save only God. And those firmly rooted in knowledge say, 'We believe in it; all is from our Lord'; yet none remembers, but men possessed of minds. 7 "Let us not go astray, O Lord, having guided us already. Bestow on us Your blessings for You are the benevolent. 8 "O our Sustainer! Verily, Thou wilt gather mankind together to witness the Day about [the coming of] which there is no doubt: verily, God never fails to fulfil His promise." 9
