The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was nothing to be mentioned? 1 We created man of a sperm-drop, a mingling, and We made him hearing, seeing. 2 Surely We guided him upon the way whether he be thankful or unthankful. 3 Verily We! We have gotten ready for the infidels chains and collars and a Blaze. 4 Surely the devotees will drink cups flavoured with palm blossoms 5 a fountain whereat drink the servants of God, making it to gush forth plenteously. 6 [The truly virtuous are] they [who] fulfil their vows, and stand in awe of a Day the woe of which is bound to spread far and wide, 7 And they feed with food, for love of Him, the needy, and the orphan and the captive. 8 [Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude. 9 We fear the dismal day calamitous from our Lord." 10 Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy, 11 For their patience, He will reward them with Paradise and silk. 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they will find there neither (heat of) a sun nor bitter cold. 13 And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, 15 Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. 16 There will they drink a cup flavoured with ginger 17 [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall surround them, waiting upon them; when you see them, you would think they are scattered pearls. 19 If you were to see it, you would find it to be a great kingdom with great bounty. 20 Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. 21 Verily this is for you by way of recompense, and your endeavour hath been accepted. 22
