The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
