And when We said to the angels: Make obeisance to Adam, they made obeisance, but Iblis (did it not); he refused. 116 Then We said: "O Adam! verily, this is an enemy to thee and thy wife: so let him not get you both out of the Garden, so that thou art landed in misery. 117 “Indeed for you in heaven is that you may never be hungry nor be unclothed.” 118 And that thou thirstest not therein nor art exposed to the sun's heat. 119 So the devil incited him, saying, “O Adam, shall I show you the tree of immortality and a kingdom that does not erode?” 120 And so the two ate [of the fruit] thereof: and thereupon they became conscious of their nakedness and began to cover themselves with pieced-together leaves from the garden. And [thus] did Adam disobey his Sustainer, and thus did he fall into grievous error. 121 Then his Lord chose him and turned to him in forgiveness and guided [him]. 122 He said, “Both of you go down from heaven, one of you is an enemy to the other; then if the guidance from Me comes to you – then whoever follows My guidance, will not go astray nor be ill-fated.” 123 but whosoever turns away from My remembrance, his life shall be narrow and on the Day of Resurrection We shall raise him blind' 124 He will say, "My Lord, why have you raised me blind while I was [once] seeing?" 125 He (Allah) will say: 'It is so, Our verses came to you and you forgot them. So this Day you are forgotten' 126 Thus We shall reward the transgressor who denies the signs of his Lord. But the suffering of the life to come is more terrible and more lasting. 127 Is it not a guidance for them (to know) how many a generation We destroyed before them, amid whose dwellings they walk? Lo! therein verily are signs for men of thought. 128
