O Ye apostles! eat the good things and work righteously; verily of that which ye work I am the Knower. 51 And surely this your religion is one religion and I am your Lord, therefore be careful (of your duty) to Me. 52 Yet they have split their affairs between themselves into sects, each rejoicing in what it has. 53 But leave them in their confused ignorance for a time. 54 Do they think that by what We aid them with of wealth and children, 55 We are hastening to them of good things? Nay, they do not perceive. 56 Surely those who live in awe of their Lord, 57 Who believe in their Lord's revelations, 58 and those who associate naught with their Lord 59 and those who give what they give, their hearts quaking that they are returning to their Lord -- 60 It is these who race for the good deeds, and they are foremost in them [e.g. offering the compulsory Salat (prayers) in their (early) stated, fixed times and so on]. 61 And We charge no soul except [with that within] its capacity, and with Us is a record which speaks with truth; and they will not be wronged. 62 But their hearts are in ignorance of this (Koran); and they have deeds besides that which they are doing. 63 To the extent that when We seized the wealthy among them with punishment, they immediately began imploring. 64 Invoke not loudly this day! Certainly, you shall not be helped by Us. 65 My signs were recited to you, but upon your heels you withdrew, 66 In arrogance regarding it, conversing by night, speaking evil. 67 Did they never ponder over this Word (of God)? Or has he (to wit, the Messenger) brought something the like of which did not come to their forefathers of yore? 68 Or is it that they did not recognize their Messenger (Muhammad SAW) so they deny him? 69 Or do they say that he is possessed? In fact, he has brought the truth to them, but most of them abhor the truth. 70 And if the Truth had followed their desires, verily the heavens and the earth and whosoever is therein had been corrupted. Nay, We have brought them their Reminder, but from their Reminder they now turn away. 71 Or are you asking them for any reward? But the reward of your Lord is the best, for He is the Best of Providers, 72 And indeed, you invite them to a straight path. 73 But those who believe not in the Hereafter turn away from the straight path. 74 ۞ Were We to be merciful to them and remove from them their present afflictions, they would persist in their transgression, blindly wandering on. 75 And We had gripped them with suffering [as a warning], but they did not yield to their Lord, nor did they humbly supplicate, [and will continue thus] 76 until We opened the gate of greater torment (death) and they suddenly found themselves in despair. 77
