[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 Their brother Lot asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 161 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 162 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 163 I seek of you no reward. My reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 164 What, of all creation will you go to (fornicate with) the males, 165 And leave what your Lord has created for you of your wives? Nay, you are a people exceeding limits. 166 Said they: "Indeed, If thou desist not, O Lot, thou wilt most certainly be expelled [from this township]!" 167 He said, "I certainly hate what you practice. 168 “My Lord, rescue me and my family from their deeds.” 169 So We saved him and his family, all, 170 Except one old woman who remained behind. 171 Then afterward We destroyed the others. 172 We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)! 173 Surely, in that there is a sign. Yet most of them do not believe. 174 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 175
