Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha'. Mim. 1 CONSIDER this divine writ, clear in itself and clearly showing the truth: 2 We have made it an Arabic Quran so that you may understand. 3 And verily, it is in the Mother of the Book, in Our Presence, high (in dignity), full of wisdom. 4 Should We withdraw the admonition from you because you are a people far gone in transgression? 5 And how many a Prophet have We sent amongst the men of old. 6 And not a prophet came unto them but him they were wont to mock. 7 Wherefore We destroyed peoples mightier than these in prowess; and there hath gone forth the example of the ancients. 8 Yet, if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will answer: 'The Almighty, the Knower created them' 9 Who made the earth a resting-place for you, and placed roads for you therein, that haply ye may find your way; 10 And Who sends down water (rain) from the sky in due measure. Then We revive a dead land therewith, and even so you will be brought forth (from the dead), 11 He Who created these pairs, all of them, and provided you ships and cattle on which you ride, 12 so that perhaps when you ride them, you will recall the bounties of your Lord and when you establish your control over it you would say, "Glory belongs to Him who has made it subservient to us when we would not have been able to do so ourselves. 13 Hence, verily, it is unto Him that we must always turn." 14 And they assign to Him a part of His servants; man, to be sure, is clearly ungrateful. 15
