The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and serried acacias, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and flowing water 31 and fruit abounding, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
