The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
