And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 no caring friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
