The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it goes down, (or vanishes). 1 your companion is not in error nor has he gone astray. 2 nor does he speak out of his own desire. 3 It is but a revelation revealed. 4 He has been taught (this Quran) by one mighty in power [Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 5 [an angel] endowed with surpassing power, who in time manifested himself in his true shape and nature, 6 While he [Jibrael (Gabriel)] was in the highest part of the horizon, 7 Then the Spectacle became closer, and came down in full view. 8 until he was but two bow-lengths away, or even nearer. 9 And He revealed unto His slave that which He revealed. 10 The heart lied not in that which he saw. 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw? 12 And assuredly he saw him at another descent. 13 Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. 14 Near it is the Garden of Abode. 15 When that which shroudeth did enshroud the lote-tree, 16 The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit]. 17 for indeed he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza? 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? 21 That is indeed an unjust division. 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them. 23 Or is there for man whatever he wishes? 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
