The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). 1 Yet if they see a sign (the unbelievers) turn their backs and say: 'This is but a continuation of sorcery' 2 And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. 3 And assuredly there hath come unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. 4 Mature wisdom;- but (the preaching of) Warners profits them not. 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 With downcast eyes, they come forth from the graves as they were locusts spread abroad, 7 They shall be hurrying forth towards the caller, and the unbelievers (who had once denied this Day), will say: “This is a woeful Day.” 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 So he cried unto his Lord, saying: I am vanquished, so give help. 10 Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down 11 and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and all this water converged to fulfil that which had been decreed. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 Sailing, before Our eyes, a reward for him who was denied. 14 And We left it as a sign. Is there anyone who will be warned? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 We have made this Qur'an easy as a reminder. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 17 The people of `Ad rejected Our guidance. How terrible was My torment and the result (of their disregard) of My warning. 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 and snatched people up as though they were stumps of uprooted palmtrees. 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
