The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Compassionate. 1 Has taught the Qur’an to His beloved Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him). 2 He created man, 3 And taught him to express clearly. 4 The sun and the moon are made punctual. 5 The stars and the trees prostrate themselves. 6 He raised the heavens and set up the measure, 7 That ye exceed not the measure, 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 He has laid out the earth for His creatures. 10 Therein are fruits and palm trees with sheaths, 11 And grain having husks and scented plants. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He has created man, from dry ringing clay, like the potter"s, 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 16 Lord of the two Easts, and Lord of the two Wests! 17 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 18 He hath let loose the two seas. 19 [yet] between them is a barrier which they may not transgress. 20 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 21 From these seas come forth pearls and coral. 22 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 23 By His command, the ships with raised masts sail on the sea like mountains. 24 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 25
