The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, 8 and he belied the finest 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
