I told them, "Messengers, eat from the pure things and act righteously; I know all that you do. 51 Surely this community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so fear Me.' 52 But people later cut up their religion into bits, each group rejoicing in what they have. 53 Wherefore leave thou them in their bewilderment for a season. 54 Do they think that in giving them wealth and children 55 Is [because] We hasten for them good things? Rather, they do not perceive. 56 Surely they who from fear of their Lord are cautious, 57 Those who believe in the Signs of their Lord; 58 Those who join not (in worship) partners with their Lord; 59 and who give whatever they [have to] give with their hearts trembling at the thought that unto their Sustainer they must return: 60 Are the ones who hasten to goodness and outpace the others. 61 On no soul do We place a burden greater than it can bear: before Us is a record which clearly shows the truth: they will never be wronged. 62 But their hearts are heedless of this. Moreover, there are other deeds besides this which they do. 63 Till when We grasp their luxurious ones with the punishment, behold! they supplicate. 64 Do not cry out today. Indeed, by Us you will not be helped. 65 My communications were indeed recited to you, but you used to turn back on your heels, 66 "In arrogance: talking nonsense about the (Qur'an), like one telling fables by night." 67 Should they not think upon the saying? Or, did anything come upon them that had not come upon their ancient forefathers? 68 Or is it that they have not recognized their Apostle, so that they deny him? 69 Or, say they: in him is madness? O Aye he brought them the truth, and most of them to the truth are averse. 70 But if the Truth had followed their inclinations, the heavens and the earth and whoever is in them would have been ruined. Rather, We have brought them their message, but they, from their message, are turning away. 71 Or, is it that thou askest of them any maintenance? The maintenance of thy Lord is better, and He is the Best of providers. 72 You are calling them to a Straight Way, 73 and surely they that believe not in the world to come are deviating from the path. 74 ۞ Did We have mercy on them, and remove the affliction that is upon them, they would persist in their insolence wandering blindly. 75 And assuredly We took hold of them with the torment, yet they humbled not themselves to their Lord, nor did they entreat. 76 when We opened on them a gate of severe punishment, they utterly despaired. 77
